Dominican Republic: Taiwan footwear maker to build US$10M plant in Santiago

Taiwan based footwear manufacturer General Shoes on Tuesday announced construction of a plant in Santiago at a cost of US$10.0 million over three years, which will create around 3,000 jobs. General Shoes president Robert Tsai made the announcement and informed president Danilo Medina that they’ll increase their investment in the country, which he affirms will turn the Dominican Republic’s footwear industry into the Caribbean’s China or Vietnam.
