Argentina Central Bank Head, Juan Carlos Fabrega, Resigns, Spokesman Says

Argentine central bank President Juan Carlos Fabrega resigned today less than 24 hours after President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner publicly criticized the institution for allegedly leaking inside information. Fernandez will nominate securities regulator Alejandro Vanoli as a replacement, presidential spokesman Alfredo Scoccimarro told reporters in a conference call. Vanoli would be Argentina’s fourth central bank president in less than five years.
