Paraguay Must Deal with Challenges Posed by Young Population

Paraguay has one of the youngest populations in Latin America, a circumstance that gives it the opportunity to quickly boost economic growth, but only if it can invest more in education and healthcare to fully benefit from its energetic young labor force.

The South American country’s demographic profile is clearly seen in any one of its cities, which are full of children and teens selling candy and fruit on buses, shining shoes and delivering wheelbarrows full of goods in the markets. It has a very different look from any European country and from other nations of the Americas with aging populations like Cuba, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina and Brazil.
